Today I made a Memory Jar as a gift to a friend. I rather enjoyed this and I look forward to making more! Here is a list of what you will need:

- Packing Tape or Modge Podge
- 1 or 2 Key Rings
- Creative Memories Tag Punch
- Creative Memories Scallop Circle Punch
- Marker or Pen
- Small Pencil
- Bow
- Green and Purple Card Stock (Green and Purple is of course optional)
- Jar

- Wash your jar so it is nice and clean. I used a Yankee Candle jar, but you can use a mason jar or an old peanut butter jar.

- Take the Scallop Punch and the purple card stock and punch a scallop with holes. Then take the green card stock and punch a scallop without holes. Tape or paste the purple scallop on top of the green. Then write 2013 in the middle.

- Cut enough packing tape to wrap around the jar and place your 2013 scallop in the middle of the tape. Wrap the tape around the jar.

- Take your Tag punch and punch about 24 tags. 12 of purple 12 of green. I figured 24 would be a good number 2 special memories a month but you can do more.

- Stagger the tags purple, green, purple, green etc. Take the key ring and attach the tags to it.

- Place ring of tags and pencil inside the jar. (The pencil I used actually was a brand new long pencil. I just sharpened it down to size so it would fit inside the jar.)

Theses next steps are if you would like to make it into a gift.
- Make a couple extra tags and write directions on them.
I just wrote this for my directions:
Don’t scrapbook but want a way to save family keepsakes and memories throughout the year? This jar contains supplies to jot down memories quickly, provides a place to keep small mementos, and looks great while doing it!
Use the tags to jot down things you want to remember: ‘firsts’, a funny comment by one of your children, the accomplishment of a family member, etc…
Add throughout the year: ticket stubs from movies, concerts, or sporting events, snapshots, small souvenirs from travels, any trinket or token attached to something you want to remember.
Keep it in a place that is accessible and encourage your family to add to the jar.
- Put the other key ring on them.
- Attach key ring to the bow.
- Stick bow to the top of the jar.

I hope you enjoy your Memory Jar as much as we do! Have a great night!
